Issues such as the settlement date, what furniture will remain, and who will fix broken areas, such as a leaky roof, should be resolved without pressure before the contract is signed.

Don’t pay more than your budget.

You may run into real estate agents trying to show you listings beyond your budget. You shouldn’t buy a home you can’t afford because you could suffer financially for years to come. In a worst-case scenario, you could lose the house through bankruptcy if you can’t pay the payments and upkeep. Be clear with your agent about what you can and cannot pay.
